About Us

We offer our own photographs as an art expression. Where we once used traditional photographic printing, we now utilize our high-end digital output capabilities and print onto a variety of materials such as artist canvases and artist papers. Each piece is printed to order.

Richard West received his Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Photography from the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology.  He worked as a photographic assistant in the Photographic Illustration Division of Eastman Kodak Company and as a photographic lab technician at Empire Graphics Corporation (div. of Case/Hoyt Printers) in Rochester, New York, before moving to New Jersey.

After moving to New Jersey, Richard worked as a photographic lab equipment manufacturer's technical representative and managed three New Jersey custom professional photographic labs before establishing West Photographic Services, Inc., in 1982.  For twenty years West Photographic Services, Inc., was a leading custom photographic lab in northern New Jersey.  From the time it first entered the Kodak E-6 Q-Lab program in 1987 until it closed its doors at the end of April 2002, West Photographic Services, Inc., had achieved consistently high rankings in quality control for its E-6 film processing line and was ranked among the top Q-Labs in the Tri-State area.

Following the change in the business environment brought on by the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the business discontinued all wet-lab operations and was restructured as West Photo Imaging LLC in August of 2002. Continuing its work in digital imaging began in the mid 1990's, the company specialized in digital imaging capture and output services.  Also provided were photographic services and consultation services in digital workflow, imaging, and color management.

In early 2007 Richard joined the staff of ZGC, Inc., in Mountain Lakes, NJ, where he was trained in the evaluation and repair of the Cooke S4, S4/i, miniS4/i, 5/i and Anamorphic/i lenses. His duties included his role as a Cooke Lens Technician, Photographer and Graphic Designer. Richard moved back to the Rochester area in 2015 and is now a resident of Canandaigua. Semi-retired, he works for Cooke Americas Limited (formally ZGC, Inc.) on a part-time basis still performing photographic and graphic duties.

Richard taught photography courses at the Summit Art Center (Summit, NJ), the Madison/Chatham Adult School (Madison, NJ), and conducted the first January Term course in Photography at Drew University (Madison, NJ).  He had numerous one-man exhibitions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in the 1970's and early 1980's before starting his photo lab business.
